Thank you for your interest in performing at SongSpace at First Unitarian. This music series was created in 2010 with the following mission:
- To establish a welcoming, joyous and meaningful space for both making and listening to music.
- To promote quality music created by both local and out-of-town performers.
- To create events that people attend based on the consistent quality of the music presented more than just a desire to hear a specific artist.
- To provide an opportunity for an artist to connect with an attentive audience.
We currently present 5 shows each year (generally in January, March, May, September and November). Booking for the next calendar year is done 6-12 months in advance. Our headlining artists are established performers with touring experience. See our list of past events to see the type of artists we present. We primarily look for artists who play well in an intimate setting, who have something musically interesting to say, and who genuinely enjoy interaction with their audience.
Shows are presented in our church sanctuary.
The church sanctuary is on the main level of the church. The sanctuary has a terraced proscenium stage with the lower/front terrace raised 2 feet above the audience floor and the upper/rear terrace 2 feet above that. The lower terrace is hardwood with a usable central performance area approximately 12 feet by 8 feet. The audience is seated in upholstered pews with a total capacity of some 300.
